The UAE is constantly at the forefront of innovative projects to improve its economy, culture, and environment. Its founder and first president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, said: “The real spirit behind progress is the human spirit, the able man with his intellect and capabilities.” The country is still directed by Sheikh Zayed’s vision in 2024, working to enable its citizens to reach their greatest potential and make positive contributions to prosperity and well-being. Notable projects embodying this vision include:
1. Burj Binghatti: Poised to be the world’s tallest residential tower at 550 meters with 120 floors, Burj Binghatti will offer luxury apartments, penthouses, and villas. Crafted by Binghatti, a renowned property developer, and Jacob & Co, a luxury jewelry company, the tower’s distinct diamond-shaped facade reflects sunlight and sea. Anticipated completion is slated for 2024.
2. Etihad Rail: Envisioned as the national railway network, Etihad Rail will interconnect all seven emirates, establishing links with Saudi Arabia and Oman. This comprehensive rail system will cater to both passenger and freight services, reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour. Commuters can expect reduced travel times, such as 50 minutes from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and 100 minutes from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. The project aims to expand commuter operations by 2030.
3. Aljada: Spanning 24 million square meters in Sharjah, Aljada is a mixed-use megaproject encompassing residential, commercial, retail, leisure, and entertainment facilities. The development features a central hub boasting a floating theater, a musical fountain, and a colossal observation wheel. Aljada incorporates a smart city district integrating renewable energy, electric vehicles, and intelligent waste management. Completion is anticipated by 2025.
