Building Bridges: Canada-UAE Collaboration

A strong and dynamic partnership exists between Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), one that is centered on advancing prosperity, enhancing security, and empowering women and girls. The two countries collaborate to strengthen inter-group relations while advancing the economic and social development of third world nations. Through different agreements and MOUs, several Canadian government agencies work with their Emirati counterparts to further shared objectives.

Recently, Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi signed the Defense Cooperation Agreement between Canada and the UAE. With this agreement, the bilateral defense partnership between the two countries is renewed and strengthened, contributing to regional stability and expanding prospects for personnel development and defense participation.

Public Safety Canada and the Ministry of Interior in the UAE maintain an ongoing partnership focused on police, corrections, border matters, and training prospects. In June 2018, the Joint Consular Cooperation Committee was formed with the objective of enhancing collaboration in consular affairs and provide improved services to the citizens of both nations. In July 2022, an MOU was signed, establishing a Joint Committee for Cooperation to deepen the bonds between the two countries. The Joint Consular Cooperation Committee, which convenes regularly, serves as a platform for discussions on consular issues and strives to advance cooperation across various consular domains.

The future of UAE-Canada collaboration is looking bright! The deepening connections between these two nations present abundant opportunities for enhanced cooperation across the defense, aerospace, and security sectors. With solid groundwork in place, the future of UAE-Canada collaboration promises to be abundant with fruitful and prosperous outcomes!
