The UAE holds a prominent position among the countries that provide foreign aid, and for several years it has been the largest donor of foreign humanitarian aid in the world. It has delivered aid to more than 178 countries around the world, which contributed to alleviating and helping millions of people. The UAE has also proven its commitment through its active role and great cooperation with the humanitarian organizations affiliated with the United Nations and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Its competence in facing disasters, wars and crises, were obvious during the Corona pandemic, and in its contributions to providing urgent aid and building humanitarian bridges extending to various parts of the world, so that the needy benefit from it, in a tolerant nondiscriminatory approach.
As is customary in the UAE during the month of Ramadan, his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the “ONE Billion Meals” project. This is a first-of-its-kind in the world, and would help prevent hunger via sustained delivery of millions of meals on a daily basis.
There is no question that supplying food is the first step in promoting stability in developing nations, and the one billion meal endowment plan will feed the populations of developing nations for a number of years. It lasts the entire holy month of Ramadan and has nearly succeeded in its objectives. Everyone in the Emirati society, including its tourists and inhabitants as well as citizens, took part in this project. The humanitarian, governmental, and corporate sectors, as well as businesspeople and others, all participated widely in this project. They continue to support philanthropic causes and the UAE’s efforts to spread goodwill around the world.
